Jim Bertone

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) as well as a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC) in the state of Nevada.   I have offered services in federal, state, and private mental health settings addressing a wide variety of personal and interpersonal life challenges.   After thirty-eight years, I still show up to my office with an enthusiasm for things I might learn that day and who I might be able to help.

My individualized care is formed and focused with the client as the expert.  What needs to be changed, the intervention, and the expected rate of change  are collaboratively arrived  at between myself and the client.  Those persons presenting with issues involving addiction, mental health, or both, are thoroughly evaluated and a plan of action for change is developed.  

I fully understand the courage that it takes for one to seek professional help. I strive to create a comfortable environment where individuals can feel safe to discuss a readiness for change and what interventions might be deemed appropriate.   My therapeutic style is firmly grounded, but not exclusive, in the evidenced-based principles of motivational interviewing and harm reduction.   I welcome anyone wishing to improve  their quality of life and would like professional guidance.
