Lifestyle Counseling & Holistic Services
We understand how important your overall wellness is to you. At Memor Health, we combine traditional and non-traditional treatment options for your mind, body, and spirit.
To achieve mental wellness, you must not only be aware of your mental health but also your physical and spiritual health. Our mind and body are connected as one unit and neglecting part of ourselves can lead us away from the optimal balance we want to restore.
Our integrative approach to total wellness allows for you to find what works best for you. While offering traditional treatment options such as psychotherapy and psychiatry, we also offer yoga, holistic postpartum care, and other non-traditional treatment options.
Our Current Classes
equilibrium
equilibrium, offers a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program and Mindful Self Compassion Program. This MBSR highly regarded program was featured in the Bill Moyers PBS special on mind and body and more recently featured in an Anderson Cooper 60-minutes special. Developed in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School the program is now taught internationally and is part of the wellness programs of major corporations and universities.
Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating non-judgmental awareness in the present moment. It is a practice of learning to pay attention to our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations and acknowledging whatever is present.
The 8-week MBSR curriculum is designed to help counter habitual thought processes that can create anxiety and resistance to what is happening in the present moment. Participants will explore the creative process that emerges from mindfulness of immediate experience to develop useful strategies for coping with stress.

The Yoga of Breathing: Introduction to Pranayama
Contact Memor Health at (775) 827-2400 for more information
Pranayama is an ancient art of conscious breath control. Through various practices and techniques, the student cultivates awareness of breathing and develops a set of tools that can ultimately rejuvenate the body and mind. These powerful tools can help reduce stress, mental tension, insomnia, and depression. With conscious control of the breath, we thread together body, mind, and spirit, becoming more whole. As the classical yoga text, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika clearly states, “When the breath is unsteady, the mind is unsteady. When the breath is steady, the mind is steady, and the yogi becomes steady. Therefore, one should control the breath.” In this course, we’ll explore a handful of these powerful techniques and work towards building a regular personal practice.

Chair Yoga Class

Yoga can be for everyone and everybody.
Yoga is the simple act of moving parts of the body with the breath in a way that grabs our attention. This can have tremendous therapeutic value. It hydrates our tissues and joints, applies gentle pressure on the bones, tones muscle, reduces inflammation, helps with focus and attention, and can support managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Why should all these benefits only be available to the young and flexible? They’re not. They’re available to everyone. Chair yoga makes that possible and is a fantastic complement and support to an overall physical and mental health regimen.
This class will give students an opportunity to practice and discuss the fundamentals of a gentle chair yoga class. Chair yoga presents a modified version of traditional yoga forms and postures, but uses the support of a chair as one of its main features, opening up the availability and accessibility of this beautiful practice to more folks living with different bodies. As one of the key yoga texts, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, states: “Whether young, old, very old, diseased, or weak, one who practices untiringly attains success in all yogas.” In this two-hour class, students will learn what yoga is, why it’s so beneficial, and a handful of simple practices that can be done at home. We will also have plenty of opportunities for questions and clarifications. We hope you’ll join us!

As a lifelong student of various storytelling arts, I approach yoga from a narrative perspective. What kind of experience can our practice create for us? How can it get us to see, think, and feel in different ways? This curious exploration is at the heart of asana and forms the foundation of my practice.
